Update for Tuesday 2026/03/24
We are using [email protected] for communication with prospective new members as well as registered members when private communication is necessary or appropriate.
As of 2026/03/24, we have the following activities in motion:
1) Password Reset completed and member login pending for RobertDyck
2) Invitation sent to Oldfart1939 and RGClark
3) Invitation sent to Terraformer (thanks to RobertDyck for email)
4) Invitation sent to Calliban failed due to email decline. Email may be active but filtered.
We have received no reply from Calliban's Email Provider
5) We are actively looking for names of members to contact
Status of the forum:
We are running with the base system on Azure, and a secure pathway provided by Cloudflare.
We provide direct access by IP address for greater speed, but new-mars.org/phpBB3/ is available from anywhere on Earth.
The base system is running on phpBB3, which is supported, so improvements to the system are possible.
In tests on a new/different PC yesterday, I observed that responses take about 20 seconds. This is not something our members are used to, and it might be discouraging. However, once the connection is made, it should then become possible to apply for direct IP connection, which performs at normal speed.
It may be that everyone is waiting for newmars.com to come back up, but I would be pleasantly surprised if that happens.
The threat environment in the Internet these days is massive.
