For SpaceNut ...
First, thanks for making time to join us this evening! The meeting with FOQ1 was the most important event, by far, and we accomplished several unexpected items besides.
Thanks for your follow up to my inquiry about data from landing sites.
What needs to happen now, (and I'm hoping CoPilot is up to it), is to examine the actual data from rovers to see if FOQ1's idea would work at each of the known landing sites. My guess is that the process ** will ** work, but it is up to CoPilot to help us confirm my prediction.
For each site you able to find that provides information about surface materials, we want to know what it would take to deliver bricks to stop dust blowing all over the planet. We do NOT need high quality bricks! We just need bricks (or other shapes) that can resist wind and not contribute to the dust problem. If all goes well, the topic you and FOQ1 are building will yield plans for actual equipment to be deployed on Mars.
I know we can count upon you to think of every possible problem that would confront the engineers working this problem, and I am confident CoPilot is smart enough to find a solution for every problem you come up with.
Finally, thanks for helping to keep this "toehold" site running ... we may never get the old members back. If we plan well, we ** should ** be able to provide an environment where serious young people can meet each other and store text and images and links to videos.

For SpaceNut ....
This post is about your conversation with FOQ1 about sintering Mars surface material to make non-dusty surfaces.
You said:
Landing site give different amounts and composition.
As seen some have no Basalt sands....
This is a very interesting discussion and I'm hoping the two of you will continue developing FOQ1's idea. You have brought up a question of how much of the surface material we can count upon to meet the requirements for making bricks at various locations.
I'm hoping the two of you can post some facts.

For SpaceNut ....
This post is about cat litter ....
You reported an incident in which cat litter became an "object of interest" in a community somewhere I America
It occurred to me that the disposal of cat litter will be a concern on Mars, just as it is on Earth, and quite possibly it may be even more of a problem on Mars than it is on Earth.
I was too young to know (or even be aware of) how my parents dealt with the issue when we lived on farms, far from town.
My guess is that the cats had free roam privileges, so they may have done their "housekeeping" outside in locations they found agreeable.
In any case, our family moved in from the farms to suburbs, and I am amazed that I never registered a single thought about how they dealt with the litter, and we ** always ** had cats.
In my own case, I always lived in cities, so never lacked for official trash disposal service.
Your report, of an incident involving cat litter in a suburb without city or county services, reminds me that for families that keep animals, management of waste will be just as important as management of human waste.
The current structure of our forum does not include a category for "Living on Mars" but we might consider adding one.
In fact, if we are going to be using new-mars.org for a while, we might want to collect/gather/assemble the active members to see what changes we might want to make to better equip the forum for the young people FOQ1 would like to invite.

I had adjusted your id to have the admin levels as that was how we are able to get newmars fixed back then.
your the site manager so you have a different level than I as an admin.
over under the quick links the team show you some information for each member you will find interesting
I think I am undersanding of the new-mars.org as that is the ubuntu newmars test demo in the root, you need a redirect to appear in the page loading to make that go to the phpbb3

For SpaceNut ... thanks for your guidance as we attempt to learn this system.
I discovered that I have an MCP button that lets me in without having to log in.
It was interesting to see the powers given to a Moderator.
In my first review of the MCP powers, I did not find anything about adding members.
If FOQ1 decides to invite others to join, we need to make it easy for him.
In FluxBB, I was able to change the Test ID's intoi real ID's without needing your help.
I'm not sure what powers a Moderator has in phpBB3 along those lines.
There is ** so ** much to learn.

For SpaceNut ....
Thanks for your reply ....
"in charge" is a relative term....
You have more experience as a Senior Admin than anyone I know.
The request is to update the database entry for the "Home" command to deliver the new-mars.org URL.
Please see if you can figure that out. Don't do anything when you find the answer. Just let me know, so we can discuss what to do!
If I become unavailable, you remain an Admin, so you can take charge if needed.
We have a brand new moderator who will (probably) appreciate some guidance from time to time.

Hoping you can make it Sunday.

you are in charge of this forum and direction that you want it to take.
I only was here to assist as I am not fluent in the controls.

For SpaceNut re upcoming Sunday Google Meeting...
If you can work the meeting into your schedule, please try again this week.
I promise to arrive in good health!
Potentially, we might have an opportunity to meet FOQ1, who I've known and worked with since 2011.
FOQ1 has taken an interest in the potential growth of this forum, and has already demonstrated understanding of the procedures to create forums in the Industry Category that you created.
Most importantly, FOQ1 brings a better understanding of the current generation of humans than I have.
I suspect the generation of which we were members is moving toward the sunset. We still have a lot to contribute, but it is today's generation that will be going to Mars, and building the infrastructure to make that possible.
This forum can (potentially) provide a venue for future Martians to meet each other, and to form partnerships that lead to creation of the industries we've been talking about for 20+ years.

SpaceNut ... I have promoted FOQ1 to Moderator.
He and I have been doing high level support online since 2011 and he has been very helpful in new situations since.
Your support remains critical for our success!
I am hoping you can help with the problem of the wrong address showing up when folks click the "Home" key.
I think that is a database entry that an Admin can adjust.

I have a Todo item on my agenda ... I'll try to add an email service.
I understand Azure supports email via a third party, so will investigate.

For SpaceNut ...
I just learned (thanks to FOQ1) that a search at the top level does NOT reveal Categories.
A possible remedy is to create a post in Housekeeping that contains the names of categories.
***
I looked at the FAQ page, and there are a lot of items I think we need to try to find time to check.
A blaring example is the contact feature ... I've learned that there is an email service that works with Azure, and I might be able to set it up.
That would direct contact requests t the newmarsmember email account we already have.
